With competitors all making the same claims, consumers have grown increasingly more skeptical. They’re bombarded with conflicting messages from all sides, and don’t know who to believe.
In today’s easy-access world consumers can find your replacement with the click of a mouse.
If your business is no different than your competitors, customers have no reason to give you their hard-earned money.
In today’s hypercompetitive business environment, incredibly sophisticated consumers want something DIFFERENT. They want something SPECIAL. They want something UNIQUE.

Prentice Parrish
Principal & Founder,
Gravitas Man, LLC
I’m 52 yrs. old. While a lot has changed for Black people in the United States over that time, unfortunately, it seems that far too much has stayed the same—or gotten worse.
Based on almost every objective metric, Black people come in last place in every category:
- Education
- Employment Rates
- Income
- Wealth
- Home Ownership
- Home Value
- Incarceration Rates
- Chronic Disease
- Life Expectancy
- Fatherless Households
In many instances, collectively, we are worse off today than we were prior to the Civil Rights Movement.
I’ve worked for Fortune 500 companies that aggressively promoted their commitment to African Americans.  I’ve heard politicians make empty-promises about their focus on Black advancement.  I even got excited about Barack Obama.  But nothing really ever changed. Â
What I eventually came to realize was that, Never in the history of man-kind has a group that had an advantage, intentionally given up that advantage, or “dis-advantaged themselves”, to create true equity and equality.
The social, political, and economic climate for many Black Americans is gradually getting worse. Â
And with recent Supreme & Federal Court decisions reducing access to education; and with Divisive Politicians:
- Using gerrymandering to ensure their re-election
- Restricting Voting Access for Black & Brown people
- Revising, or totally eliminating important elements of Black & American History
- It’s very likely that things are going to be even worse for our children.Â
I’ve got a 6 yr. old son, and an 8 yr. old daughter. The prospect of my kids having to fight against a system whose main goal is to marginalize them, and to destroy any opportunity that they may have to advance, is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Â
As a father, as a man, and as a Black man, my conscience won’t allow me to sit idly by and let things continue as they are.
Something has got to Change. Â
Somebody new has got to Stand Up.
I believe that Strong, Confident, Capable Black Men have to be the ones to do it.
Â
We NEED a NEW MOVEMENT.
Â
Our community has got a SPECIAL NEED. And that SPECIAL NEED presents a SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY for a different type of man to step-up. A Gravitas Man.
Throughout my life, I’ve existed in multiple worlds that had very little in common. I was always looking for a TRUE SENSE of COMMUNITY. I was always looking for my “TRIBE”.
Eventually, I realized that…If I couldn’t FIND IT, I had to MAKE IT.
I share this with you because I want to be a part of a like-minded group of phenomenally gifted men working to CHANGE THE WORLD in their own way. I want my passion to mesh with theirs, and not just be ADDITIVE, but serve to MULTIPLY our combined IMPACT.Â
