When I was growing up, the typical “American Dream” consisted of graduating from High School, going to College, getting a “good job”, and working there until you retired. That was fine for most people, but I wanted something different. I wanted to be an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurship was in my DNA. In grade-school I started selling baseball cards. In junior-high I sold home-made mix tapes. In high-school I sold tie-dye shirts and devil sticks at Grateful Dead concerts. In college I promoted parties, and after graduating, I leased a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse and threw raves with over 2,000 attendees---all while holding down my first full time professional job.

Being an entrepreneur wasn’t what I did. It was who I was.
